Literary Hub is pleased to exclusively announce the publication of Ottessa Moshfegh’s next novel, Lapvona, which was written during the pandemic and is scheduled to be published by Penguin Press next summer. Here’s what the publisher had to say about the book:

In Ottessa Moshfegh’s new novel Lapvona, set in the vanished medieval fiefdom of the same name, a motherless son and his bitter shepherd father must navigate dark times in their village, in which the only seeming check on the depravity of the local feudal lord is the witchy power of the village’s blind midwife.

It seems witches are having a moment—but aren’t they always? Let’s hope no global catastrophes pop up in between now and summer 2022 to delay this book, but either way, in the meantime, why not read Moshfegh on isolation, self-awareness, and cancel culture, or perhaps on doubt, unreliable narration, and the messiness of near history.
