A Yi is a Chinese writer living in Beijing. He worked as a police officer before becoming editor in chief of the literary magazine Chutzpah. He is the author of two collections of short stories and has published fiction in Granta and the Guardian. His first novel, A Perfect Crime, has been translated into English, Spanish, French and German, among other languages, and his second novel will be published in English in 2018.
