L. Annette Binder was born in Germany and grew up in Colorado. Her story collection Rise received the Mary McCarthy Prize. Her stories have appeared in the Pushcart Prize Anthology, the PEN/O. Henry Prize Stories, One Story, American Short Fiction, The Southern Review, Third Coast, Fairy Tale Review and others. The Vanishing Sky is her first novel.
