Daniel Mendelsohn
Daniel Mendelsohn is Editor-at-Large of the New York Review of Books and the Charles Ranlett Flint Professor of Humanities at Bard College. Apart from An Odyssey, his books include the international bestseller The Lost: A Search for Six of Six Million (2006); The Elusive Embrace: Desire and the Riddle of Identity (1999); Three Rings: A Tale of Exile, Narrative, and Fate<.em> (2020), a Kirkus Best Book of the Year; a translation of the complete poems of C. P. Cavafy (2009); and three collections of essays and criticism, most recently Ecstasy and Terror: From the Greeks to Game of Thrones (2019). His translation of Homer’s Odyssey will be published by the University of Chicago Press in early 2025.
