This week’s news in Venn diagrams.
It’s April on the east coast, and we’re starting to get glimpses of beauty amid the chilled damp. Everyone knows Eliot’s description of April as the cruelest month: “Memory and desire, stirring/Dull roots with spring rain.” I feel you, brother. But the phrase that always pops into my mind is Shakespeare’s, from The Tempest: “spongy April.” It described exactly how it feels outside, and also how a long winter can leave you: wrung out and overly susceptible to absorbing what’s going on around you.
What I’m saying is that it’s been a big week, and you’re forgiven if you’ve missed some of the news—I’ve got some Venns here to catch you up.
Happy Easter, and hope your weekend’s not too spongy. I’ll see you back here on Monday.
