Friends, forgive my earnestness, but tomorrow is a beautiful day. It is Independent Bookstore Day: the one day a year set aside specifically for celebrating indie bookstores and the vital work they do for our communities. Where would we be without booksellers? For the love of Meg Ryan and Hugh Grant and the actual real people keeping the dream of the local bookstore alive, go say hello! Hundreds of bookstores are involved in the country-wide celebration tomorrow, and each one is doing something a little different, but a few activities include scavenger hunts, live music, and author readings. Go buy books! Treat yourself to limited-edition merch. Apparently, you can get your hands on an exclusive original short story by Mieko Kawakami! And, yes, you deserve another tote bag!!
