Michael Connelly on His Path to the Top of the Crime Fiction World
The Author of Desert Star Talks to Ona Russell in the New Season of Authors in the Tent
Authors in the Tent is a professionally filmed series of interviews with established and emerging authors conducted in a tent Ona Russell purchased during the pandemic. Inspired by Boccaccio’s Decameron and the 1001 Arabian Nights, the tent—elemental, ancient, and ubiquitous—serves as a magical backdrop for literary conversation.
In this latest episode, Ona Russell talks with Michael Connelly about his latest book Desert Star, his path to the top of the crime fiction world, and more.
Michael Connelly is the author of thirty-six previous novels, including #1 New York Times bestsellers The Dark Hours and The Law of Innocence. His books, which include the Harry Bosch series, the Lincoln Lawyer series, and the Renée Ballard series, have sold more than eighty million copies worldwide. Connelly is a former newspaper reporter who has won numerous awards for his journalism and his novels. He is the executive producer of three television series: Bosch, Bosch: Legacy, and The Lincoln Lawyer. He spends his time in California and Florida.
Ona Russell holds a PhD in literature from UC San Diego where she also taught for many years. She is author of three award-winning historical mysteries and the recently released Son of Nothingness: A Novel of Appearances.
