Let famous authors do the reading for you in the Toni Morrison virtual marathon.
As snow begins to hem in parts of the U.S., it’s a good time to remind you that a virtual marathon reading of Toni Morrison’s Song of Solomon kicks off on Thursday and flies, suitcase in hand, through February 25, hosted by Literacy Partners, a adult literacy program, as a part of their programming for Black History Month.
A daunting lineup of authors is slated to take turns guiding us through the life of Milkman Macon, including Hilton Als, Edwidge Danticat, Brit Bennett, Tommy Orange, Jennifer Egan, Ocean Vuong, and Jessmyn Ward. One can imagine the books on your shelves perking up as they recognize their creator’s voice coming out of the speakers in waves.
Part one will be streamed on Thursday, February 23, from 7:00 pm to 11:00pm EST.
Part two will run on Friday, February 24, and part three on February 25.
You can register for free, but donations are encouraged, and anything above $100 will net you a copy of Song of Solomon. Surrender to the air!
