La, la, laaa, la, la, laaa. We’re getting a Gilmore Girls tell-all.
Some of us just can’t seem to quit a certain Connecticut town.
Maybe it’s the pancakes at the diner. The quaint local color. Or maybe it’s those unlikely palm trees, swaying in the distance.
Either way, despite the inscrutably speedy rate of local speech or the male residents, who range from tyrannical to creepy to emotionally unavailable, Stars Hollow has retained its shine and mythos lo these thirty years. Mostly thanks to a preponderance of witty brunettes.
Two of those brunettes—one who’s always in front of the camera, and one who’s always behind—are reuniting to write a book about their haven.
Lauren “Lorelai Gilmore” Graham and Amy Sherman-Palladino, the show’s runner and architect, announced yesterday that they’re co-writing a memoir of the Gilmore Girls production years.
As APNews reports, Graham and Sherman-Palladino’s project “will offer sharp wit, personal reflection, and never-before-shared stories” about the making of the 21st century’s coziest screwball sitcom.
This is neither writer’s first rodeo. Lauren Graham is a bestselling author, known for her novel Someday, Someday, Maybe (a charming Künstlerroman for the actor in your life) and a memoir: Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls (and Everything in Between). And along with her partner Daniel Palladino, Sherman-Palladino wrote most of the show’s scripts over its seven year run. Excepting episodes in that much-contested final season.
In somewhat less heartwarming news, she also has experience with statements. In 2024, Sherman-Palladino was part of a vocal coalition condemning Jonathan Glazer’s Oscar acceptance speech, in which the Zone of Interest director criticized Israel for its ongoing assault on Gaza.
Will the tell-all draw us out of the hamlet, and into a thornier present? Only time will will. Celadon Books, a division of Macmillan, will publish the book. And for fans, the coffee is slated to spill fall of 2027.
