    Get away from it all in this Brazilian outdoor “book house.”

    I think it was me just now that originated the sentence, “To sit in the shade on a fine day and look upon verdure is the most perfect refreshment.” Brazil-based studio Siqueira + Azul Aquitetura understands this, and has created a “book house annex” built onto a private residence where visitors can read and conduct their research without shutting themselves off to the natural world.

    The “interior” of the annex opens outward onto a private garden, and sliding doors blur the indoor and outdoor. Said Siquiera + Azul to DesignBoom, “The presence of wood on the bookshelves seeks to enhance the horizontal planes and reinforce the library as a prominent element”—and now that I’ve heard that, I’m saying that too.
