Don’t miss these amazing Minnesota writers reading at AWP
If you’re headed to Baltimore this week for the 53rd annual AWP (aka literary rumspringa for writers-who-should-know-better), I insist you come have a beer and celebrate some of Minnesota’s (and America’s) best writers reading at ICE OUT: Minnesota Writers Respond to ICE, 1:45-2:45pm, Friday, March 6, at Checkerspot Brewing Company.
Because yes, that whole state—and the Twin Cities in particular—has borne the brunt of this administration’s nakedly racist forays into authoritarianism, but in so doing, has shown the rest of the country how to respond: with courage, and with solidarity.
Hosted by Kathryn Kysar and A. Rafael Johnson, the reading will feature incredible writers like Danez Smith, Heid E. Erdrich, Gwen Kirby, Erin Sharkey, and many more. Donations will be STRONGLY encouraged to Monarca and Pillsbury House, two vital Twin Cities organizations that have been serving the community throughout ICE’s occupation (to that end, if you come find me at the bar, and show me proof of donation, Lit Hub will buy you a drink).
Friends, do not miss this one, co-sponsored by Kimbilio, Loft Literary Center, and Lit Hub.
