Danielle Steel works at a desk designed to look like a stack of her own books

Today, in Samantha Leach’s profile of Danielle Steel in Glamour, I learned that Danielle Steel has written 179 books. I learned that she has a sign in her office that reads “There are no miracles. There is only discipline.” I learned that she works 20 to 22 hours a day, and most importantly, I learned that she does it at this desk.

This desk is the most extra, magical, absurd writer desk that I have ever seen. As you will observe, it is delightfully overstuffed and messy . . . and also handcrafted to look like three of her own books. Has anything ever been more baller than this? “Dead or alive, rain or shine, I get to my desk and I do my work. Sometimes I’ll finish a book in the morning, and by the end of the day, I’ve started another project,” she tells Leach. So would I, with such a desk. So would I.
