Brace yourself for some shocking news about how Jared Kushner’s book became a best-seller.
Despite the fact that Jared Kushner’s recent memoir Breaking History “reminded [Dwight Garner] of watching a cat lick a dog’s eye goo,” and the fact that it’s, you know, a book ostensibly written by Jared Kushner, we were not surprised to see it on the New York Times best-seller list. Not because I have high hopes for the buying power of the .75 people in the world who still respect Kushner, but because of Republican PACs’ history of buying their acolyte’s shitty books in bulk.
And now, thanks to the work of Zach Everson at Forbes, we know exactly who was behind the purchase that launched Kushner’s “queasy-making book” onto the list: the Save America Joint Fundraising Committee, which raises money for two Trump PACs, and which spent $131,000 at Books-A-Million four days before Breaking History‘s appearance on the list.
The Committee is now offering copies of the book as gifts with donations of more than $75 to the cause of furthering American fascism.
Congratulations to the only winners in all of this: the people on Twitter who reply to innocuous tweets about loving books with Oh, you like all books? Even Mein Kampf?
