It has recently come to my attention that Jane Austen’s former Bath home is available to rent for your writing retreat/pandemic escape plan through Airbnb. You can sleep under the same roof (er, approximately) as the literary legend for a mere £152 per night.

Not that the house seems that conducive to productivity, at least in the scheme of Austen’s career.

“In this house, Jane started work on her early and unfinished novella, The Watsons,” the host explains. “Furnished with antique furniture, some of which has been in our family for generations, we offer a unique and authentic slice of history.” Austen lived in the Bath house between 1801 and 1805, but it wasn’t until the family moved to Chawton House, in 1809, that Austen started work on the books that would make her famous.

But still: it looks like a pretty cool place to hang out.
