Jay A. Fernandez has been a professional writer and editor for more than 20 years, focusing mainly on books, movies, music, art, health, and activism for dozens of national magazines and newspapers. He worked on the editorial staffs of The Washington Post, Code, and The Hollywood Reporter, and he wrote the weekly column “Scriptland” for the Los Angeles Times. His work has appeared in Los Angeles, Time Out New York, Premiere, The Washington Post Book World, Entertainment Weekly, Savoy, Variety, USA Today, LIFE, ELLE, National Geographic KIDS, Seventeen, Boston Review, Columbia Journalism Review, and the Penguin Random House culture site Signature Reads, among others.
