Jay A. Fernandez

Jay A. Fernandez has been a professional writer and editor for more than 20 years, focusing mainly on books, movies, music, art, health, and activism for dozens of national magazines and newspapers. He worked on the editorial staffs of The Washington Post, Code, and The Hollywood Reporter, and he wrote the weekly column “Scriptland” for the Los Angeles Times. His work has appeared in Los Angeles, Time Out New York, Premiere, The Washington Post Book World, Entertainment Weekly, Savoy, Variety, USA Today, LIFE, ELLE, National Geographic KIDS, Seventeen, Boston Review, Columbia Journalism Review, and the Penguin Random House culture site Signature Reads, among others. He has work forthcoming in ACLU Magazine, Pacific Standard, and Ember, and he has been a fellow at the Squaw Valley Community of Writers for both fiction and poetry. He is currently a fiction editor at L.A. Review of Books and runs Reviser Editorial (www.revisereditorial.com), which provides writing and editing services to publications, institutions, and individual creatives looking to improve their fiction and creative nonfiction.
