Esther Allen
Esther Allen won the 2017 National Translation Award in Prose for her translation of Antonio Di Benedetto’s 1956 novel Zama (NYRB). Her essays, interviews, and translations have appeared in the Los Angeles Review of Books, The New York Review of Books, The Paris Review, Words Without Borders, Poetry, and other publications. Her most recent translation is Di Benedetto’s The Silentiary. A Guggenheim and Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers Fellow, she is a professor at City University of New York Graduate Center, where the Master’s in Liberal Studies Program now offers a Literary Translation Studies concentration.
