Late last year, the PERIPLUS collective announced it was taking applications for a new fellowship whose goal was to connect writers who are Black, Indigenous and people of color with mentors—the impressive list of which included Hanif Abdurraqib, Jenna Wortham, Allison P. Davis, Laura van den Berg, and others—who could coach them on craft, business, and other topics related to their work.

Now, the collective has released the names of its inaugural class of fellows, a diverse group of 55 writers who will meet with mentors every other month. Here are the names of the recipients and their mentors.
