Woody Allen is retiring from filmmaking . . . to work on his novel.
Sure, Woody Allen may be a celebrity octogenarian with millions of dollars and a decimated reputation, but he’s also just like you: keeping up with pandemic trends by quitting his job to follow his real passion!
On Sunday, Woody Allen, who is currently working on his 50th feature, told Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia that he planned to retire from filmmaking. “My idea, in principle, is not to make more movies, and focus on writing,” he said.
And what will he be writing? Er, another memoir? Of course not. Like everybody else you know, Woody Allen is working on a novel. “I imagine [the novel] will have a lot of humor because that’s what comes naturally to me,” he told the paper. “But, if I had a very serious idea, I wouldn’t hesitate to do the same thing I did in some of my films.” To Woody Allen, I say what I say to all aspiring novelists: keep your day job, man.
