Alabama local newspapers The Birmingham News, Mobile Press Register and Huntsville Times devoted their Sunday editions to more than 200 essays on abortion, reproductive justice, and life as women in Alabama. They run the gamut and are very worth your time. A small sample, to give you some idea:

    · A recent college grad recounts how she had to learn sex ed from her roommate because Alabama public schools hadn’t taught her.

    · A 16-year-old calls on politicians to consider teenagers’ voices.

    · A writer considers the history of women in Alabama as “women of war” and those who were at the center of the fights for suffrage and civil rights.

    · Another questions how Alabama can grow more economically successful if it keeps passing policies that are restrictive to reproductive rights.
