Literary Hub is Seeking a Regular, Part-Time Writer
Do You Have Strong Opinions About Books and Stuff?
This is a remote, contract writing position. The writer will be responsible for researching, pitching, planning, and writing engaging, concise, voice-driven blog posts for The Hub on a daily basis. This may include commentary on the literary news of the day, explainers, reading lists, close-readings, historical deep-dives, etc. These posts should be short, fast, funny and/or angry, and opinionated. The deadline to apply to this position is Friday, March 8, 5pm EST.
Our ideal applicant:
Can write engaging, clean copy that fits in with Lit Hub’s editorial voice, while also maintaining a point of view.
Can do it quickly!
Has impeccable instincts for what works (and what’s interesting) online—how to engage readers, how to spark conversations, and how to delight, inform, and grow our audience.
Has deep familiarity with the world of books, both online and off.
Is familiar with the WordPress platform.
Is familiar with creating images for online editorial and social media.
Has great taste in books. (Like us.)
We are seeking a writer who can commit to a regular, part-time schedule of 3 hours a day, preferably AM EST. Compensation for this position is $35/hr. NB: There will be an editorial test for final candidates that will involve a small, unpaid time-commitment.
