We’re on the lookout for Nice Things at the moment, and “beloved chefs helping you make the most of your socially distanced pantry” is the perfect combination of heartwarming and actually useful.

While the grocery stores in my neighborhood remain open, they’re running low on staples (like bread) as well as some not-quite-staples (like Flamin’ Hot Cheetos), and while in the previous world order I went to the store almost every day, I’ve cut way back in the interest of doing my part to preserve the remaining shreds of the social fabric.

Perhaps you’re in the same boat? If so, Ina Garten and Samin Nosrat are here to help.

The Barefoot Contessa announced on Instagram that she would be posting recipe ideas and substitutions, and invited her followers to describe the contents of their pantries so she could direct recipes to them. Be your own Jeffrey!

Meanwhile, Samin Nosrat and podcaster Hrishikesh Hirway are starting—yes—a podcast, Home Cooking, to “help you figure out what to do with all that quarantine pasta!” You can listen to a trailer here, and record a voice memo with your cooking questions and send it to alittlehomecooking@gmail.com.

    Bon appetit, fellow shut-ins.
