Verlyn Flieger

At the age of 91, Verlyn Flieger remains one of the foremost scholars in the realms of Tolkien scholarship. She has journeyed through nearly a century, leaving an indelible mark on the landscape of fantasy, medieval literature, and comparative mythology. A Professor Emerita in the Department of English at the University of Maryland, she is the author of four books that delve deep into the heart of Tolkien's mythic creations, unearthing hidden treasures and shedding light on the profound depths of Middle-earth. Her literary endeavors have earned her the prestigious Mythopoeic Scholarship Award for Inkling Studies in 1988, 2002, and 2013. Her new novel, Spiderweb Alley, will be published June 25, 2024 by The Gabbro Head Press.
