The plight of independent bookstores during the coronavirus pandemic has brought an outpouring of public support—but, along with it, an often-overwhelming deluge of messaging about whom to support and how. A new app, Save Your Bookstore, is trying to pull more of it together in one place.

Save Your Bookstore allows users to search more than 600 bookstores located in 137 cities and find special offers, details on curbside pickup and delivery, and follow their social media accounts, with information curated for each storefront.

Aakanksha Gaur, who created ShelfJoy on Instagram, is leading a team of volunteers in the effort. “I want to, in very quantitative terms, get some real value for these bookstores that can be measured, and be able to do something really concrete for them,” Gaur told Fast Company.
