All your favorite songs reimagined as vintage book covers. (You’re welcome.)

This morning, Open Culture pointed me to the work of screenwriter and graphic artist Todd Alcott, who—when he’s not writing movies—translates his favorite songs into vintage book covers, mostly of the pulp fiction and mid-century modern variety, but with some other genres (nature guides, self-help books, etc.) thrown in for good measure. Alcott makes the “cultural mashups” digitally, and describes them as “conversation between the songwriter, the original designer, himself and the viewer.” If you’ve ever wanted to read a David Bowie song as a novel, well . . . you’ll want to even more now. Below you’ll find a selection of my favorites; you can buy prints of all of these and lots more in Alcott’s Etsy store.
